AN ARTISTRY IN FULL BLOOM

At The Ode To we are always curious to learn more about creativity and artistry, so we asked Camilla Lovmand to tell us a little bit about her life, her art and her sources of inspiration.

What do you call your series of artwork?

– I call this series "One Bouquet from the Garden." The name reflects the essence of my work, where each sculpture is like a unique bloom from a personal garden.

What technique have you used?

– My sculptures are crafted from paper, specifically Papier-mâché. I have a penchant for collecting paper from various sources, which serves as a reminder of the small moments in my life. I incorporate these collected papers into my sculptures, infusing them with the essence of those memories. I hand-form each sculpture and paint them using a variety of paints, often mixing colors to find the perfect shade for each piece. I thrive on creative freedom, both in my art and in life, so I enjoy combining different materials in my work as the inspiration takes me.

What inspired you to create the artworks you have made for The Ode To?

– My art draws inspiration from my own emotions and experiences. I'm highly observant of the situations, relationships, challenges, and moments in life. My art serves as a garden where I explore and navigate through my feelings and thoughts. Each sculpture in this bouquet collection is a manifestation of a specific feeling, discovered and nurtured in my own unique way. These pieces capture the interplay of toughness and vulnerability, reflecting both my own emotions and those I encounter in the world around me.

Can you tell us about your background and how you came to be an artist?

– I have a background in graphic design and entrepreneurship, but my innate desire to create, shape, draw, and experiment with materials has been with me since childhood. Creating has always been a fundamental part of my identity. I've used my creative endeavors as a way to explore and understand myself better. It's been a personal journey of self-discovery and expression.

How would you describe your art and aesthetics in three words?

– Embracing, curious, colorful.
